Few people in consumer healthcare share the experience as both a scientist and product leader as does our Editor-in-Chief, Donald Kay Riker, Ph.D. As a technology leader at P&G's Personal Healthcare Division, Dr. Riker worked to support over-the-counter products rising to the rank of Associate Director & Research Fellow managing the conduct of over 125 clinical trials of OTC products. Dr. Riker, later recruited by Chattem, Inc a leading acquirer of OTC products, rebuilt and led R&D as its first & last Vice President of R&D & CSO managing all its technical functions. Chattem’s stock price rose 7-fold during his tenure, a period accounting for 88% of the stock’s current value [9/22/09].
Dr. Riker, who trained at Cornell and Yale University School of Medicine, is a member of the Society of Neuroscience, Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, Licensing Executives Society, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology, American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, American Society of Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Infectious Disease Society of America, Drug Information Association, Association of Health Care Journalists, and Sigma Xi. He served on the Consumer Healthcare Product Association’s Scientific Advisory Committee for five years.
